Something else to see when visiting the Moonta Tourist Information Centre
Turntables played an important part in the history of railways in Australia and the world.
Our Turntable on display is 16.3 metres long and weighs 20 tonnes. Proudly displayed in the Historical Broad Gauge Railway Precinct adjacent to the Moonta Mines Tourist Information Centre.
Ask the Tourist Information Volunteer for a copy of the flyer and then take a walk to this precinct to learn the history of this equipment and how it was operated and the part this equipment played in managing the rail system.
